Raymond C. Armstrong, age 93 of Fairborn, passed away Monday July 26, 2010 in the Emeritus at Fox Run.  He was born December 11, 1916 in Eldridge, Iowa, the son of the late Raymond and Carrie (Brown) Armstrong.  Raymond served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and Korea, retiring at the rank of Major.  He followed with employment with the U.S. Government in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB in the Air Force Logistics Command, retiring in 1985 after 43 years of combined federal service.  A loving father and husband, Raymond was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ in Fairborn where he served as an elder and deacon.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor and Eldeana.  He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Naomi; four children, Paul Armstrong and wife Susan of Nevada, Cheryl Kahoe and husband Allyn of Fairborn, Robert Armstrong of Arizona, Carol Houghton and husband James of California; six grandchildren; a sister, LaRue Williams of Indiana; a brother, Ralph Armstrong and wife Pauline of Miamitown, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends on Friday July 30, 2010 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn.  A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. en route to Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Vandalia for a 1:30 P.M. graveside service with full military honors, Rev. Ron Lee officiating.  Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in his memory.
