Elmer Clay Barker, age 59 of Fairborn, passed away Monday July 19, 2010 in the Wright Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 22, 1951 in Dayton, the son of the late Herman and Lesta (Cantrell) Barker. Elmer was employed by Cemex as a heavy equipment operator, retiring after 37 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Barker. He is survived by a sister, Eileen Cox of Fairborn; three brothers, Willie Barker of West Chester, Alvin Barker of Seattle, Washington, and Elvin Barker of Fairborn; a step-brother, Everett Adkins of Middletown; four nephews; a niece; three step great-nephews; and a very special cousin, Mrs. Thelma Cox of Fairborn. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wright Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they provided to Elmer during his time there. A funeral service will be held on Friday July 23, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Rev. Ron Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Byron Cemetery.
