
Dr. John J. Peterangelo, age 62 of Fairborn, passed away Saturday May 10, 2008 in the Hospice of Dayton. He was born May 21, 1945 in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of the late Carmen and Rose (DeMillo) Peterangelo. A lifelong philanthropist, soon after he established his family medical practice in Fairborn, he also created the Good Shepherd Clinic in Belize which he continued to support throughout his life. Dr. Peterangelo was extremely active in a wide variety of professional organizations throughout Greene County. He also provided exceptional service as a member of the Fairborn City Schools Board of Education, most notably in his leadership in the passage of the recent school levy. Dr. Peterangelo became a central figure in uniting the community. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an aunt, Mary DeMillo. He is survived by his loving wife, Louise; two children, Steven Peterangelo and wife Mishal of Oakwood, Jennifer Peterangelo, and fiancé Trevor Glimpse of Columbus, OH; two step-daughters, Cynthia Meaux and husband Gregory of Orlando, FL, Candice Patrick and husband Todd of Fairborn; step-grandchildren, Lionel, who John raised as his own, Gregory, Rebecca, Jenna, Davina, Hannah; a brother, Jerry Peterangelo and wife Carolyn of Yellow Springs; a sister, Grace Pittman of Oregon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 14, 2008 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. and again from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 15, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in the Mary Help of Christians Church, 954 N. Maple Ave., Fairborn, Father Charles Lang celebrant. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Greene Foundation, c/o Greene Memorial Hospital, 1141 N. Monroe Drive, Xenia, OH 45385 to be used for brain cancer research.
