Herschel L. Shaw, age 79 of Fairborn, passed away Monday June 14, 2010, a day that he had prepared for all of his life. He was born on July 8, 1930 in Leslie, Kentucky, the son of the late Beckam and Minnie Shaw. Herschel was employed in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring after 39 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, L.B. McAnally. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Madesta; two sons, Steve and wife Cil, Randy and wife Joan, all of Centerville; his sister, Edna Shaw of Burkesville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Stephany Stacy and husband Eric of Enon, Amanda Timmons and husband Jason of Springfield, Amelia and John Shaw of Yellow Springs; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Justin Stacy, Macy and Tucker Timmons; special friends, James and Joyce Cyrus, James Gillispie, and Ray Price; as well as many special friends and church family from the Xenia Church of Christ. The family will receive friends (Today) Thursday June 17, 2010 from 5:30 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A funeral service will be held on Friday June 18, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Xenia Church of Christ, 444 Country Club Dr., Xenia, Chuck Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow in the Byron Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Xenia Church of Christ in Herschel’s memory.
