Obituary

Alice Fay Taylor, age 81 of Fairborn passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. She was born on February 7, 1945, in Dayton, the daughter of the late Leslie John and Ethel (Bryant) Wood. Throughout her years, Fay found joy in a rich variety of interests that brought her happiness and connection with others. She was an avid listener of Elvis Presley’s timeless music; treasured her travels to the Smokey Mountains alongside her sisters, trips filled with laughter, and the deepening of bonds that only sisters share. Her passion for dance led her to take lessons, a pursuit that added rhythm and grace to her life. She loved watching her westerns especially Gunsmoke. She always said that Matt Dillon was such a “good looking man”. Above all, Fay's greatest delight came from spending precious time with her children and grandchildren, creating memories and nurturing relationships that will forever be remembered with love.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by nine siblings, Don (Martha) Wood, Lee (Dorothy) Wood, Mary Goins, Nancy Watts, David (Joyce) Wood, Frank (Shirley) Wood, Danny (Pat) Wood, Thelma Davis, Connie Wood; and son-in-law, Jeff M. Hurst. She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband and father of her children, Leon E. Sloan. Fay is survived by two children, Leslie Hurst, Kenny (Amy) Sloan; grandchildren, Jennifer Hurst, Brian Hurst (Ashley Potts), Sarah Sloan (Jacob Mishou), Christopher Sloan, Katie Sloan; great-grandchildren, Travis Butts, Joseph Lamoureux; and a baby girl (Virginia) on the way, brother-in-law, Larry Davis; and special niece, Rachel (Victor) Hoalcraft and their daughter Westlyn; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. The family would like to thank her caregiver Ann and the multiple nurses and aides that made her stay at Wright Rehabilitation facility special. A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2026 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral will be held on Thursday May 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM, Pastor Tim Walden officiating. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.
