Arlene Anne Posey, age 63 of Beavercreek, OH, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 16, 2025. She was born February 3, 1962, in Olean, New York, the daughter of Donald Duane and Ellen Eudora (Ziegler) Dunn.
Anne was the proud and loving mother of three children. She raised them all from home, taking a pause in her career to do so. She was, and will always remain, the treasured soulmate of her husband, Rick; her love and devotion to him were evident through the decades of their marriage and in the close-knit family they nurtured together. Anne was best known for her radiance and cheer, which were especially on display every Christmas season (her favorite holiday season). Any and all who encountered her knew immediately that they were in the presence of a luminous child of God. Her smiles could outshine the sun. Anne held abundant love for her family, but that love was openly shared by her and freely given to her friends, students, and rescued animals. She loved being an early childhood educator. Her students received the same love and care she gave her own children. Anne was brilliant and an excellent student at all stages of life, which helped her to achieve her career goals.
Anne first earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cincinnati, and her Master’s degree in Long Term Health Care Administration from Xavier University, before finally returning to the University of Cincinnati to earn her Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. For 27 years, she served as an early childhood educator, first at St. Peter’s Early Childhood Center in Huber Heights, and then at Memorial Presbyterian Preschool in Xenia, where she eventually served as Director. Her commitment to nurturing and educating young children was inspired when she first held Nicholas, her first born. She chose to be a stay-at-home mom to all of her three children, until the time came when she returned to the workforce and began her second career as an early childhood educator. Her approach to teaching was transformative, endearing her to many families throughout her community.
Outside of her professional life, Anne had a deep love of nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed family vacations, gardening, hiking and camping. These activities enriched her life and helped create cherished memories with her human companions and furry rescued friends.
Anne Posey leaves behind a legacy marked by a dedication to education and a love of learning.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ellen E. Dunn; maternal grandparents, Anna M. and Walter L. Ziegler; paternal grandparents, Hazel B.R. and William S. Dunn. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Scott “Rick” Posey; three children, Nicholas Dunn “Nick” (Briana) Posey, Nathaniel Aaron “Nate” (Michelle) Posey, Kathryn Anna “Katie” Posey; grandchildren, Aiden O’Neill Posey, twin boys (June 2025); father, Donald Duane Dunn; sister, Laura (Dale) Hickey; niece, Jennifer (Ian) Scarlato; great-nephew, Kilian Scarlato; extended family and dear friends.
