Avanell "Nell" Robbins, born on August 16, 1935, in West Liberty, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at the Hospice of Dayton. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love, faith, and community service that will be cherished by many.
Nell was a long-time active member of the Enterprise Baptist Church in Fairborn, where she served as President of the Willing Workers for many years. Her commitment to her faith was exemplified through her leadership in organizing countless breakfasts for the church, where she brought people together in fellowship and joy.
Nell found immense joy in spending time with family and friends. She was known for her loving spirit and hospitality, often cooking delicious meals that brought everyone around the table. Her passion for traveling enriched her life and the lives of those around her, as she gathered stories and experiences that she shared lovingly with her family.
Nell is survived by her daughter, LaThella (Kevin) Gregory; and son, Scott (Teresa) Pelfrey. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) Gregory, Leah (Michael) Donohue, Erin (Will) Combs, Kelly (Neil) Pelfrey, and Adam (Allison) Pelfrey. She took great pride in her great-grandchildren, Grace (Zach) Roach, Jackson Gregory, Lucy Donohue, and Liza Donohue, as well as a great-great-grandchild, Stevie Roach. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Stanley C. Pelfrey, her second husband Winfred Robbins, a son, Stanley Pelfrey, and four sisters, Poncella Collier, Mondella Bradley, Geneva Smith, and Betty Stapleton. Her spirit will continue to touch the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home on October 31, 2025, starting at 10:30 AM until noon. A funeral service will follow immediately after, starting at 12:00 noon, also at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, located at 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. in Fairborn. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.
Nell's warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed, yet her memory will endure in the hearts of many.
