Barbara Ann Medley, born on December 20, 1947, in Monterey, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in Dayton, Ohio, on May 2, 2025. She leaves behind a loving family and a legacy of compassion and dedication that touched the lives of many.
A devoted Licensed Practical Nurse for many years, Barbara found fulfillment and purpose in her work, retiring from Oak Creek Terrace. Throughout her career, she exhibited a remarkable commitment to the well-being of others, a testament to her caring nature.
Barbara was an active member of Byron Church, where her passion for music shone brightly. As a cherished member of the church choir, she lifted the spirits of all who heard her voice. Her love for music extended beyond the church, embracing other forms of art as well. She enjoyed going to the ballet, and her talents in sewing and crocheting allowed her to create beautiful pieces that brought joy to her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, Howard, three children: Amy (Jerry) Ediger, Corinne (Tim) Beverly, and Kenneth (Sandy) Medley. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Benjamin, Maggie, Sunshine (Drew), Camden (Michelle), Shianna (Billy), Matthew (Emily), Jessica (Brandon), and Drew (Danielle), along with her great-grandchildren: Holden, Colt, Cora, Caiden, Chance, Logan, Dylan, Serenity, Jailynn, Dawson, Makenzie, Kya, Demi, Holden, Jonah.
Barbara is also survived by her brother, Roger (Gail) McCormick, and sister, Deloris (Ron) Hutt, who, along with her extended family, will cherish the memories of her kindness and vibrant personality.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Augusta Lucille (Shirley) McCormick, who undoubtedly knew her as a brilliant light in their lives.
A funeral service will be held on May 8, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Belton Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Barbara will be laid to rest at Byron Cemetery Mausoleum. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA in her memory.
