Bessie Mae Carter

Bessie Mae “Bet” Carter, age 82 of Fairborn, OH, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her devoted family, Saturday, July 5, 2025. She was born on March 28, 1943, in Vanceburg, KY, the daughter of the late Leonard and Della A. (Harris) Lykins.

She lived a life filled with strength and devotion, leaving behind an enduring legacy characterized by her unwavering faith and deep love for her family.

Bessie was a strong Christian woman, whose faith was a guiding light throughout her life. As a devoted member of the International Faith Church, she embodied kindness and compassion, always welcoming others with an open heart. Her commitment to her beliefs was evident in both her words and actions, making her a beloved figure in her community.

As a mother, Bessie was an unwavering pillar of support and nurturing. She poured her love into her daughter & family, providing them with guidance, strength, and fortitude. Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother brought her immense joy, and she devoted countless hours to caring for and cherishing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warmth and affection created a lasting bond that will be forever cherished by those she loved so dearly.

In addition to her parents, Bessie is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rex Carter; siblings, Helen Osbourne, Billy Lykins. She is survived by an only child, Tammy (Carter) Minehart; granddaughters, Sarah Minehart, Emily Moles; great-granddaughters, Mackenzie, Scarlett, Willow, Letty, Rosie; brother, Everett (Sharmian) Lykins; devoted friends, Darlene Kilburn, Tommy and Dorthy Reeves.

A funeral service will be held at 4:30 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, OH 45324. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the time of service, Sister Darlene Kilburn, celebrant. Burial will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Cottle Cemetery, Zag, Morgan County, Kentucky.
