Bruce M. Whaley, Jr.

July 10, 1975 — May 9, 2025

Bruce M. Whaley, Jr., a beloved figure whose laughter echoed through the lives he touched, departed this world on May 9, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, leaving behind many cherished memories and a vibrant legacy. Born on July 10, 1975, in Xenia, Ohio, Bruce was a man who embraced life with a warmth unmatched, weaving joy into the fabric of his community through his work and passions.

For many years, Bruce, alongside his family, operated Chicken and Pizza in Fairborn, where he was a beacon of camaraderie and spirit. His presence brought people together, forging friendships over shared meals and laughter. More recently, Bruce stepped into the role of route supervisor with Helms Distributing, where he continued to inspire those around him.

A lover of all things automotive, Bruce found solace and excitement in the hum of engines and the gleam of polished chrome. His joy extended beyond vehicles to the peaceful shores where he cast lines, embracing the tranquility of fishing. Music was another of his passions — a soundtrack to his life that underscored moments both simple and grand.

At the heart of Bruce’s life was his seven, whose unconditional love and spirited antics filled his days with purpose and happiness. He reveled in the beautiful chaos of being part of the "funny farm," where laughter reigned and joy was found in the most unexpected moments. Each smile and chuckle carved a place in his heart, reminding him that life’s truest treasures were those spent surrounded by loved ones.

Preceded in death by his father, Bruce M. Whaley, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Tonya R. (Cantrell) Whaley; two daughters, Aleia (Brandon) Amstutz, Emalee (Troy) Whaley-Pratt; a granddaughter, Layla “L.J.” Amstutz; his mother, Sandra Whaley and family of Jamestown; his in-laws whom he loved dearly, Rick and Joetta Cantrell; all of his friends in the beloved car club, WTWW; his crazy 8-ball, Aunt Jelly; and his Ohana.

As we bid farewell to Bruce M. Whaley, Jr., let us carry forward the lessons of love, laughter, and the joy of togetherness he brought to our lives. He will be missed deeply, but his spirit will undoubtedly continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
