Burley Emmitt Edwards Jr., aged 86 of Fairborn, OH, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26, 2026, after lengthy illness at Trinity Community in Beavercreek, OH. He was born on September 23, 1939, in Fairfield (Fairborn) OH.
Burley retired from Wright State University as an electrician along with being a Fairborn firefighter. Burley had many friends, loved to build things and work with his hands.
Burley was a Legacy member of the John W. Durst Lodge 716, F&AM in Dayton, was a member of Antioch Shrine, as well as the Scottish and York Rites, the Sons of the American Legion, V.F.W. and was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel.
Burley was preceded in death by his parents, Burley Edwards Sr. and Florence (Henry) Edwards as well as his brothers Gene & Jack Edwards.
Burley is survived by his wife Glenda Joyce (Oney) Edwards of Beavercreek, sons Mark (Karen) Edwards of Pine Grove, KY, Lee (Kimm) Edwards of Beavercreek, OH, Jimmy (Barbara) Edwards of Tipp City, OH, and daughter Tamara Grubb of Arkansas, stepsons, Ronnie, Daryl and Larry Staats, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and step grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Edwards and family along with sister Norma Morton and family of Lafayette, Indiana.
Burley had too many friends to mention but we must add the Zavakos, Gorby, Morrison, Trimbach and Routt families in Fairborn and the Merrick family of Gallipolis, OH.
A masonic service followed by a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, OH, 45324. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM until the start of service. Interment to follow at Fairfield Cemetery, 720 Clover Street, Fairborn, OH.
Please join the family for a time of fellowship and remembrance at Giovanni's Pizza, 215 W. Main St., Fairborn, following the burial.
