Charles John Christopher Wetzel

Charles John Christopher Wetzel, age 75, passed away on September 24, 2025 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on December 13, 1949, in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of the late Ralph and Wilma (Wahl) Wetzel. Charles served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant after over 22 years of service. He found joy in working in the yard, attending classic car shows, and traveling to state and national parks. He was an avid coin and currency collector for many years. These hobbies not only brought him happiness but also allowed him to create memories with his loved ones. Charles is survived by his four children, Misty A. Christensen (Justin), Charles W. Wetzel (Mary), Joanna L. Wetzel, and Christopher J. Wetzel (Katie); two grandchildren, Valyn Wetzel and Jackie Wetzel; two sisters, Linda Mouhlas (Gus) and Barb Kucera (Greg); longtime companion, Yong Morgan; beloved dog, Sumo; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sun Ok Yang Wetzel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Deacon Max Roadruck officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Charles will be laid to rest with military honors at Dayton National Cemetery.
