Dale E. Nelson

Dale Edward Nelson, age 79, passed away August 16, 2026 in Fairborn, Ohio. Dale was born December 2, 1946, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from East Grand Rapids High School. Dale received a Bachelor of Computer Science in Aeronautical Engineering, a Masters degree in Computer Science and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he worked for Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. Dale retired after 31 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He was a Professor and taught Computer Science at Wright State University. Dale attended The Byron Church. On July 3, 1971 Dale married Christine Beck in Wichita, Kansas. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christine, his siblings, Nancy (William) Swanson of Colorado, Brian (Carol) Nelson of Florida, Scott (Cherri) Nelson of Arizona, and Wendy (Karen) Nelson of Costa Rica. A funeral service will be held on Friday August 21, 2026 at 12:00 noon at the Byron Church, 3230 Trebein Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service. Dale will be laid to rest at Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Byron Church.
