David Allen Swinehart

David "Dave" Allen Swinehart, age 83, of Xenia, Ohio (formerly of Fairborn), passed away on July 21, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1942, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Robert Glen and Marjorie (Rager) Swinehart.

After graduating from Fairborn High School, Dave enlisted in the United States Navy. He was immensely proud of his military service and his time in the Navy. During active duty, he was deployed to Vietnam aboard the USS Canberra, an experience that shaped many of his future endeavors.

Dave's greatest joys included fishing and spending time with the family dogs. A perfect day often included both. His annual fishing trips to Canada and weekends at Lake St. Marys were among his favorite memories.

Although Dave was a private man, he was immensely proud of his family and spent his final days surrounded by those he loved. He enjoyed sharing stories of his childhood and military service, playing cribbage with his son-in-law, Doug, and continuing his annual Army-Navy game wager with his son-in-law, Jeff.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Goddard) Swinehart; his three children, Kim (Doug) Molnar, Tami (Jeff) Hagler, and Joe Swinehart; his seven grandchildren, Grant Hagler, West Hagler, Lee Hagler, Marnie Hagler, Cameron Pena, Sydney Pena, and Tyler Pena; his sister, Judy Duffy; as well as extended family and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, Ohio 45324. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Greg Delaney will officiate. Burial with U.S. Navy honors will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia.
