With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Donald H. Weisert, a loving family member, a cherished friend, and treasured part of the lives of so many.

Don’s immediate family said their final goodbye to this incredible husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa on October 28, 2026. Don was born on June 21, 1943, in Peoria, Illinois to the late Henry Otto and Gladys Josephine (Imhoff) Weisert. Known for his easygoing nature and likable personality, Don had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued. His gentle strength, steady guidance, and genuine kindness earned him the respect of colleagues and the lasting friendship of countless people throughout his life.

Don proudly served 27 years in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He continued his professional career for another 14 years as a contractor, serving as Chief Operating Officer at MTC. His dedication to his work reflected the same commitment and integrity that characterized every aspect of his life. A graduate of Bradley University, Don later earned his master’s degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology, further demonstrating his commitment to learning and professional excellence.

In retirement, Don especially enjoyed traveling to Marco Island with his beloved wife, spending precious time with his grandchildren, and immersing himself in a good book. An avid reader, Don, found great enjoyment in reading, which remained one of his favorite pastimes. These simple pleasures reflected what mattered most to him: family, friendship, and making lasting memories with the people he loved. Don will be remembered by family and friends for his generous nature and love for others, especially his grandchildren, who held a particularly special place in his heart.

Don is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary; daughter, Dawn Weisert Shepard and daughter, Allison; son Rick (Adriane) Weisert and children, Nathan (Katie) Weisert (and their son Henry); daughter, Makellen (Josiah) Stottlemyer (and their children, Oliver, Benjamin, Penelope); son, Daniel Weisert; stepson, Greg (Melinda) Dierker and children, Brendon, Lucas (Kyla) (and their daughters, Rylie, Ellowyn), Dominic, Kristopher, Danielle (Hunter) Fornshell (and their daughter, Maevis), Keegan, Donovan; stepson, Jeff (Amy) Dierker and children, Hayden, Seth; stepdaughter, Debbi (Jim) Yeary and children Reagan, Reece, Mason. He had enormous pride in his wife, children, 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Don leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
