Frank P. Carchedi, age 85 of Fairborn passed away June 5, 2026. He was born July 12, 1940 in Lowellville, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Irma (Leardi) Carchedi. He received a BE degree from Youngstown University in 1964 and a Masters from the University of Dayton in 1976. Frank started his career at WPAFB in June 1964. He held a variety of positions, including Program Manager, Supervisory Supply Systems Analyst and Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist, retiring in January 1995. Throughout his career he received numerous awards including the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award. Frank was an active member of Mary, Help of Christians Church since June 1954. He was an usher, adult mass server and a counter for the church’s weekly collection. He was heavily involved in the annual parish festival, volunteered in the church renovation and building the FYI facility in the Parash Center. He had been a member of the pastoral council since 2018. He was a volunteer income tax preparer at the Fairborn Senior Center for many years, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus since 1970, having served as Grand Knight twice, and was involved in many of the Council’s activates. He was also a Past Faithful Navigator in the member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and a longtime member of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet. He is survived by two sons, Frank Jr. (Michelle) Carchedi, Joseph (America) Carchedi; two grandsons, Thomas Carchedi, Nicholas Carchedi; granddaughter, Michelle Carchedi; brother, Vito Carchedi’ two sisters, Carmela McCaughty and Bella Picnci.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 11, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd, Fairborn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday June 12, 2026 at 10:30 am at the Mary, Help of Christian Catholic Church, 954 N. Maple Ave, Father Jason Beetle, celebrant. Frank will be laid to rest at Byron Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul, Fairborn in memory of Frank.
