Garnette S. Privett

Garnette S. Privett, born on September 23, 1950, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 17, 2026, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Her life was marked by dedication to her family and and her faith.

Garnette was employed for several years at Dearborn County Hospital, however, with the arrival of grandchildren and then great-grandchildren, she stayed home to participate in their lives and enjoyed her time spent with them. it was her role as a grandmother that brought her the greatest joy in later years.

She found happiness and fulfillment in simple, yet meaningful pursuits. Garnette enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking, activities through which she shared with her family and friends. Singing was another passion that enriched her life, reflecting her vibrant spirit and love for music.

Garnette was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Flora (Parkey) Whitaker, her husband of 46 years, Kelly "Artie" Privett, who passed in 2020; and four siblings, Ralph, Bernice, Harold, and Gladys.

She is survived by her children, Shawna (David) Colen, Jason (Liz) Privett, and Linda Privett; eight grandchildren: Katelyn, Hunter, Timmy, Lizzy, Kara Jo, Maryella, Jacob, and William; four great-grandchildren: Crymsenne, Chandler, Benjamin, and Jack; a brother, Carl Gene Whitaker; a sister, Joyce Phelps; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A visitation will be held on March 21, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the First Church of God, located at 1000 Fairview Street, Lawrenceburg, Indiana. This will be followed immediately by a funeral service at 12 noon at the church, Don Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's (Bellaire) Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, 1000 Fairview St., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025.
