Glenn Morefield, Sr., born April 6, 1942, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, passed away on March 22, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. He was a dedicated professional and respected member of his community whose life was marked and cherished family man whose life was marked by service, hard work, and family connections.
Glenn served his country honorably in the United States Army, and his sense of discipline and service was a defining aspect of his character. Following his military service he built a respected career as a concrete finisher with the Cement Masons and Plasterers Union, retiring after 30 years. Never one to slow down, he continued to contribute to his trade by establishing and operating his own business, Fairborn Cement Floors. Throughout his career, Glenn was known for his skilled workmanship and strong work ethic.
He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed recreational pursuits including bowling, poker, playing pool, and fishing—activities that brought him great joy and relaxation.
Glenn's surviving family includes, two children, Glenn Jr. (Sharon) Morefield of Kentucky and Melissa Brown of Fairborn. He was the proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: David, Tabitha, Brittany, Glenn III, Chelsey, Paige, Samantha, and Jamie. His legacy continues through 21 great-grandchildren and a great great-granddaughter. Glenn also leaves behind a sister, Doris Shaffer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Ellen (Hubbard) Morefield; two sons, David and Jimmy; his step-mother, Virginia Morefield; his first wife, Joyce; his second wife, Shirley; and siblings, Robert, Kathleen, Joseph, Lorene, Charles III, Luther, and Isabel.
A funeral service will be held on Monday April 6, 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery.
Glenn Morefield, Sr.’s life was characterized by dedication to his family, his craft, and his community. His contributions, both personally and professionally, have left a lasting impact and he will be remembered with great respect.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration in his memory.
