Harriet L. Ensor, aged 86, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025. The daughter of the late Dr. F.E. and Mary (Shields) Rosnagle, she was born on February 13, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, and grew up in nearby London.
She attended The College of Wooster for two years before transferring to Bowling Green State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1961. Post graduation, Harriet moved to Fairborn, Ohio and began what was to become a 30-year career with the Fairborn City Schools as a kindergarten teacher. She taught at both Palmer Elementary and East Elementary schools and retired in 1998. She met her husband Woody in Fairborn while living in the same apartment complex. They were married in 1964 and enjoyed 56 years together. A longtime member of Fairborn's First Presbyterian Church, Harriet served on many committees and sang in the choir there for over 50 years. Fixtures of the Fairborn community for all those years, Harriet and Woody moved to 10 Wilmington Place in Dayton in November 2020. Throughout her life, Harriet never knew a stranger and struck up conversations with everyone she met. Kindhearted and generous, she was the biggest fan of all those she loved. Her quick wit and smile will forever be missed.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert S. Rosnagle; her sister, Martha R. Kirby; and her husband Elwood (“Woody”) Ensor. She is survived by daughters Janet (Walter) Marek and Mary (Andrew) Neely; grandchildren Corwin Marek, Elise Marek, Alexander Neely, and Gabrielle Neely; cousin, Ann H. Campbell; and several extended family members and friends.
