1st Lt. Jaime Sue Gustitus was viciously taken from us at the dawn of her amazing life filled with adventure, kindness, and love. Jaime was born in Farmington Hills, Michigan on February 17, 2000. She grew up in Novi, Michigan, graduating with honors from Novi High School in 2018, where she was a varsity catcher and Team Captain for the Novi Wildcats. Based on her academic, athletic and community accomplishments, Jaime was nominated by the honorable Dave Trott to attend the United States Air Force Academy. She earned her private pilot’s license in 2021 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research. Jaime attended pilot training at Columbus AFB, MS and completed her Master of Science in Operations Analysis from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson AFB, OH, where she served as an Operations Analysis Officer specializing in mathematical and quantitative modeling.
We are proud of Jaime’s accomplishments to assume responsibilities of command, citizenship, and government as an officer in the United States Air Force, but this only represents a fraction of who Jaime Sue was. She loved and cared for so many, never losing her childhood innocence. Jaime had a passion for life, and her family will forever cherish the vacations, cruises, theme parks, sky diving, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, ziplining, paragliding, and countless adventures shared together. The way to Jaime’s heart was food. Her enthusiasm for eating out was unrivaled. She chose quality over quantity in both food and friends, and the people in her life meant everything to her. She loved her family deeply, including her beloved cat, Roxy.
Jaime embodied acceptance, gentleness, purity, naiveté, loyalty, and passion as an untroubled spirit who caused no harm and welcomed all. Everyone touched by Jaime in their lives is better for knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother Carol Ann Jenks. She is survived by grandparents David Jenks, Michael and Sue Gustitus, Clifford and Helen Smith; father Michael Gustitus (Devon Meyer); mother Jennifer Jenks (Stephen Smith); siblings Maria, Matthew, Chris (Valerie), Matt, and Sarah; uncle Rob Jenks (Karen) and cousins Kaleb, Alexandra, Maggie, and Maddie; uncle Darren Gustitus (Megan) and cousins Marek and Stella; as well as a wealth of loving family, friends, and colleagues whose lives she has enriched.
Cremation and a family celebration of her life have taken place. Anyone wishing to honor Jaime’s memory are encouraged to donate in her name to the Wonder Foundation at https://wonderfoundation.org.uk/donate-to-wonder-foundation
