Janet Diane Barnes, age 73 of Fairborn, passed away on September 8, 2025, at Beavercreek Health and Rehab. Born on September 30, 1951, in Meridian, Mississippi, Janet's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her community, and her faith.
A very generous person with a giving heart, Janet supported numerous area charities, leaving an indelible mark on those who were fortunate to know her. She was an accomplished singer, sharing her gift with family and friends as they performed at various churches and events throughout the community. Her voice resonated with warmth and joy, bringing comfort and connection to many.
Janet was a devoted wife who supported her husband, Pastor Clarence Barnes, during his years of service at the First Assemblies of God in Fairborn. Married for 53 years until he went home to be with the Lord in 2019, they built a life centered on faith, love, and community service.
In recent years, Janet found companionship and love with longtime family friend, Rob Sudduth, who became her second husband. Their relationship flourished, and Rob's compassion and support were a vital part of her life until the end.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Rob Sudduth, her daughter Sherry and son-in-law Dave Thompson; three grandchildren, Cassie (Fest) Miles, Courtney Smith (Meet Chaudhari), Cody (Heather) Smith; five grandchildren, Skyler, Ryan, Kinsley, Charlie, and MacKenzie; two brothers, Randy (Liza) Mixon, John (Kathy) Mixon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Each of them holds a piece of her heart and will carry forward her legacy of kindness and creativity.
A visitation honoring Janet's life will be held on Friday September 12, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, located at 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor John Ward officiating. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Janet Diane Barnes will be remembered not only for the compassion shown to her community and her loved ones but also for the love that she so freely shared with everyone around her. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
