Jerry M. Calhoun

Jerry M. Calhoun, age 73 of Springfield, passed away on August 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 17, 1952 in Beckley, West Virginia, the son of the late Ronnie and Sarah (Lyons) Calhoun.

Jerry was known for his quick wit and love of telling jokes, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. His sense of humor was matched only by his genuine kindness. A man of many passions, Jerry found happiness in a variety of hobbies. Golfing was a favorite pastime, allowing him to enjoy friendly competition on the green. He liked playing cards, and he treasured time spent outdoors, whether that meant enjoying the beach or tending to his yard. Jerry’s appreciation for music was unmistakable, and he was often found dancing to Motown music. Throughout his life, Jerry was also dedicated to enriching the lives of others through coaching basketball and baseball. On and off the court and diamond, he embraced these roles with enthusiasm and care. Jerry was immensely proud of his family and found his greatest joy in being with them. He dearly loved his grandchildren, who brought light to his life and cherished moments spent together.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Danny, Ronald, Charles; and two sisters, Pat Parsons, Barbara Meadows; Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Drema; son, Jeremy (Liz) Calhoun; Heather (Dennis) Whitener; three grandchildren, Ansley Whitener, Blair Calhoun, Gibson Calhoun; two brothers, Kenneth (Carolyn), Robert; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 26, 2026 at 12:00 noon at the Restoration Park Church, 55 Restoration Park Dr., Medway, Pastor Wes Arblaster officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service. Jerry will be laid to rest with military honors at Enon Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home.
