Jerry “Pete” Carroll, aged 88 of Fairborn, OH, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Overbrook Landing, Xenia. Born on July 14, 1938, in Vicco, KY, he was the son of the late William Zion and Clemma Alice (Lewis) Carroll.

Pete was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived a life filled with dedication, service, and genuine warmth. Affectionately known as Pete, he will be remembered most for the love he shared with his wife, children, and grandchildren, embracing family as his greatest joy.

Pete served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, an experience he was always proud of and spoke about with deep respect. After his time in the service, Pete went on to earn a master’s degree, marking the beginning of a meaningful career in education.

For many years, Pete worked as both a teacher and a principal with Huber Heights Elementary School. He worked at all three elementary schools within the Huber Heights school district.

In retirement, Pete and his beloved wife Jean hit the open road, traveling across the country in their Airstream and enjoying the adventure of life together. They made wonderful memories exploring new places and meeting new friends. Pete and Jean split their time between Ohio and Punta Gorda, Florida, cherishing the best of both worlds and embracing the freedom that retirement brought.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 68 years, Myrtle “Jean”; siblings Lillian, Clemma, Gerlean, William, Robert, Johnny, and infant boy James. He is survived by his children James “Jim” Carroll, Melissa Mirenda, and Donna (Mark) Lawson; grandchildren, Eric Bond, Jessica (Danny Lemaster) Skapik, Samantha Mirenda; step grandchildren, Stephanie (Nick) Lutz, Skylar Smyth, Nathan (Robin) Rambo; great-grandchildren, Kaylen, Keagen, Trinity, Hayden, Jamie, Peyton, Hailey, Anthony, Alyson, Monroe, Joslynn, Autumn, Mya, Paisley-Mae, Declan, Wyatt, River, Walker; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
