John L. Daniel, age 90 of Springfield OH, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, September 13, 2026, at his home. He was born January 14, 1936, in River Kentucky; the son of the late John W. and Laura (Price) Daniel.
John worked for many years as a commercial glass glazier, retiring after 25 years. He was a member of Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon for 53 years, a song leader for 35 years and as a church trustee for many years. His dedication to Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church was a steady and important part of his life. He gave his time and heart to the church community for over 50 years.
He loved his family very much and treasured time spent with them. John also enjoyed his fishing trips, skeet shooting, and fish fries with his family. His heart always belonged to the hills of River Kentucky.
John was active in the basketball program at Meade Memorial High School in Johnson County; something that remained a meaningful part of his story and he loved to talk about.
He will be remembered as a man who loved his wife, children, and family, who stayed true to his faith, and never lost his deep connection to home.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Lee Daniel; sister, Ora Alice Ward; and brother, Jay Millard Daniel. He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Bonnie J. (Prince) Daniel; three children, Beverly Gay Weber, Mike Alan Daniel, Jeffrey Scott Daniel; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Joan C. Hensley, Billy E. Daniel; extended family and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, NOON, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church, 2405 Harshman Road, Dayton, OH, 45424. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 AM until the time of service, Pastor Hollie J. VanHoose officiating. Burial to follow at Enon Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn, OH.
