John Frederick Dewsberry, age 82, of Yellow Springs, OH, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 29, 2025. He was born November 18, 1942, in Berwyn, IL, the son of the late Stanley Steven and Margaret Lorraine (Hussey) Dewsberry.
His life was marked by dedication, service, and profound love for his family.
John had a distinguished career in security with the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Throughout his military service, he was stationed in various locations, including Germany, contributing to the safety and security of his country.
A devoted family man, John cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He was deeply committed to his wife and took great pride in his two children and grandchildren. Despite his many achievements, John remained a very private individual, sharing his life and experiences primarily with those closest to him.
In addition to his devotion to family, John had a strong passion for travel. He created lasting memories exploring new places, an interest that allowed him to experience the world beyond the confines of his daily life.
John was also supportive of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), reflecting his deep compassion for those who served the nation alongside him.
He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the warmth he demonstrated in his personal relationships. John leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, love, and unwavering commitment to both his family and his country.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Margaret (Paul) Tierney. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Charoon Dewsberry; two children, Sukanya (David) Northup, Michael “Mike” Dewsberry; two grandchildren, Anthony Valadez, and Danielle Valadez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held by the family, privately. Burial with military honors to follow, St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Yellow Springs, OH.
