Kenneth Gene Poston, aged 91 of Xenia, OH, passed away, Sunday, February 1, 2026. He was born December 19, 1934, in Gainsboro, TN, the son of the late Ernest M. and Susan (Smith) Poston.
Gene devoted many years to his career as a truck driver, mastering the art of the open road. His work ethic was unmatched, embodying a dedication that defined his life. He was an avid hunter, reveling in the thrill of pursuing deer, grouse, and small game. His love for the outdoors extended to fishing, where he found solace and enjoyment by the water.
Among his cherished pastimes, Gene had a particular fondness for mushroom hunting, eagerly searching for morels, grays, and yellow mushrooms. He took great pride in his ability to work with his hands, finding fulfillment in carpentry and woodworking—a true testament to his creativity and craftsmanship.
Gene was a huge college football fan and enjoyed watching games passionately. He also had a soft spot for college basketball and found immense joy in supporting little league baseball, particularly when it involved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Above all, Gene’s love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. Gene expressed his love through cooking and baking, always making it a point to prepare each person’s favorite dish or dessert for holidays and special visits. He cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, wife, and great-grandchildren. The bonds he formed with his family members were integral to his happiness, and he was known for his warm and welcoming presence.
In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by six siblings, Ray Poston, Bob Poston, Chuck Poston, Paul Poston, Roy Poston, Rose Masters; and a several lifelong friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn E. (Daniels) Poston; two children, Cheryl Neal, Rodney (Stacey) McCubbins; five grandchildren, Brandy (Jimmy) Henson, Sarah (Levi) Minor, Ashton Neal, Brayden McCubbins, Avery McCubbins; five great-grandchildren, Blake Smith, Lincoln Minor, Sawyer Henson, Creighton Minor, Leila Minor; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A private service will be held by the immediate family. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn, OH.
