Linda Jean (Chafin) Hunter, 78, of Fairborn, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday surrounded by loving family.
Linda was born in Logan, West Virginia to parents Rush Chafin, Jr. and Ruby (Hainer) Chafin. She graduated from Fairborn High School in 1967 and went on to work several jobs until she found her niche in food service at Wright State University where she retired after 31 years of service.
Linda was a very devout Christian who aspired to tell everyone of God’s never ending love. She taught Sunday School for many years at General Baptist House of Prayer in Fairborn. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit, silly sense of humor, and beautiful smile; as well as her commitment to her family and friends.
She enjoyed reading, taking walks, watching Western shows; and playing scrabble with her sisters. She loved her family immensely, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, Howard (Steve) Hunter; Very Special Mother-in-Law, Clarice Fultz; siblings, Larry Chafin, Russell Chafin, William Chafin, Johnny Chafin, and Delores Walls.
Linda is survived by her children, Michelle Hunter, and Jason (Kimberly) Hunter; grand-children, Jocelyn Hunter, Elijah Hunter and Madison Hunter; great grand-children, Wyatt Stephens, Olive Hunter, and William Prentice; siblings, siblings: Patricia Traylor, Mary Black, Nancy Chafin, Daniel (Debbie) Chafin, Raymond Chafin, and Jane Chafin; as well as a host of many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday July 27, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastors Dwayne Bryan from Westwood FreeWill Baptist Church in Ashland, KY and John Fry from Redeeming Grace Church in Morehead, KY officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org.
