Linda Mason, aged 80 of Fairborn, OH, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 29, 2026. She was born in Crockett, KY and raised by her paternal grandparents, Jesse and Virginia “Ginny” Ball.
Linda built her life on hard work, determination, and deep love for her family. She overcame a difficult childhood, having been raised by her paternal grandparents, and carried that experience with her in a way that shaped the kind of mother and grandmother she chose to be. She was determined to create a better life for her children, and through strength, sacrifice, and steady devotion, she did exactly that.
Linda worked for many years as a cook with Lenny's Food Service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She was known as a hard worker, someone who took pride in doing her job well and in caring for those around her. That same work ethic carried into every part of her life.
At home, Linda was always busy. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, sewing, and cooking, and she always seemed to have a project underway around the house. She took special pride in her home, welcoming, and thoughtfully decorated. She loved flowers, fixing things around the house, and making the most of the space she had created for herself and her family. Those who knew her will remember her as hardworking, and always willing to put in the effort to make life better.
More than anything, Linda loved her children and all of her grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life and her proudest accomplishment. She worked hard to provide for her children, especially during the years when she was raising them as a single mother. Her strength, resilience, and commitment gave her children the care and stability she wanted so deeply for them, and that love continued to grow through her grandchildren, who brought her great pride and joy.
In addition to her grandparents and parents, Linda is preceded in death by her former husband, Willie Denvil Mason; son, Denvil “Craig” Mason; brother, Larry Lawrence Ball, and cousin who was her “best friend”, Diana Barker. She is survived by two children, Argina (David) Foor, Kimberly (William) Jarvis; special nephew, Perry Mason; five grandchildren, Kyle (Kaitlin) Retallick, Christopher Jarvis, Benji Jarvis, Megan Jarvis, Ethan Foor; ten great-grandchildren, Mason, Kieran, Katlyn, Alex, Dalton, Emma, Ensley, Vayda, Nolan, Mason; two great-great-grandchildren, Makenly, Greyson; aunt, Florence (Ed) Gilliam; and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, OH, 45324. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 AM until the time of service, Pastor Eric D. Meade officiating. Inurnment to follow at Byron Cemetery.
