Mary E. Gibson, age 68 of Fairborn passed away August 5, 2026. She was born December 21, 1957 in Xenia, the daughter of the late Alden and Norma (Grooms) Whitt. Mary was employed at Home Depot as a cashier for over 20 years, enjoying the interaction with customers. She was a member of Moose Lodge 1068 in Fairborn. Mary enjoyed tending to her flowers, watching the Cincinnati Reds and spending time with her family and animals. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gibson; brother, Dennis Whitt; and four sisters, Marie McPheron, Terry Adkins, Jeanette Whitt, Charlotte Whitt. Mary is survived by her son, Rodney Whitt; grandson, Kyle Whitt; sister Linda Thompson; dog, Echo; cat, Lucy; as well as extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Thursday August 13, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Buck Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.
