Pastor Clyde E. Bowen, a devoted servant of God and a compassionate leader, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Fairborn. Born on May 28, 1927, in DeMossville, Kentucky, Pastor Bowen dedicated his life to service—to his country, his faith, and his community.
His journey of commitment began with his honorable service in the United States Army at the close of World War II. Following his military service, he felt a calling to ministry, initially serving in Northern Kentucky before relocating to the Dayton area in 1959. There, he took the helm as Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, where his kind and caring nature deeply touched the lives of many. From 1971 to 1980, he served in an administrative role in Seneca Lake. His bond with Grace Baptist Church was enduring, returning in 1992, again in 1994, and once more from 2009 to 2010 as Interim Pastor. In recent years he was active with Enon First Baptist Church and then New Covenant Baptist Church, where he was a current member. Alongside his wife, he was instrumental in founding a ministry for the deaf in the area which continues to flourish today.
Pastor Bowen was widely recognized for his unwavering dedication to others, embodying kindness and care in every interaction. His legacy is not only reflected in his spiritual leadership but also in the lives he touched through his genuine service.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 75 years, Juanita, who passed in April 2024; a son, Kenny, who died in 2001; and five siblings—Lewis, Melvin, Spencer, Chester, and Hilda—who have also gone before him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, David Bowen, and wife Vickie of West Virginia; three grandsons; two granddaughters; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family’s profound loss is balanced by the enduring love and legacy he has bestowed upon them.
Visitation will be held on March 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at New Covenant Baptist Church, located at 454 East Main Street, Enon. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon, Pastor Ron Lee officiating. Burial will follow at the Enon Cemetery. All who knew Pastor Bowen are invited to join in honoring his remarkable life of faith, service, and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 360 Hospice, 3455 Mill Run Rd., Suite 900, Hilliard, OH 43026.
