Richard G. "Dick" Bishop, age 85, of New Carlise, passed away on December 3, 2025 at his home. Born on October 30, 1940, in Lincoln, Rhode Island, the son of the late Howard and Eloise (Dowd) Bishop.
Dick served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a member of the security forces. Following his military service, he extended his commitment to community safety by joining the Fairborn Police Department. During his tenure, he rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as a Lieutenant and later as the Commander of the Greene County Task Force. His leadership and dedication earned him the respect of his colleagues and the community.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard cherished the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for golfing and often found joy in farm life, where he could connect with nature and the land he loved.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Bishop. Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Dr. Debra Bishop; daughter, Kimberly Bishop; three grandchildren, Britney, Kyran, and Kierra, as well as his nine great-grandchildren; survived by five siblings, all residing in Rhode Island.
The memory of Richard G. Bishop will be honored during a memorial service with military honors on December 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Chris Tannreuther officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
