Richard Jay Burns, age 58 of Enon passed away April 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born January 7, 1968 in Dayton, Ohio to Karen Larrick and the late Charles Burns . He is preceded in death by his Dad, Robert Larrick.
Richard is survived by his wife of 28 years, Connie and their five children, Michael (Margo) Salmons, Natosha (Chris) Reno, Brandi (Kurt) Burcham, Alysha Maurer (Scott), Ritchie (Samantha) Burns.
He is also survived by his siblings Michael (Janet) Burns, Deborah Burns, Robert Larrick, Ronnie (Angela) Larrick, Michael Larrick.
Richard was also a proud papaw to Clayton, Makenna, Hunter, Madden, Peyton, Elli, Maxton, Lanie, Maverick, Ryder, Rowan, Mylah, Rhen, Banks and River; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
He spent his life with grease on his hands and a grin on his face—equally at home under anything with a motor. If it had wheels, an engine, or even just potential, he was probably working on it… or at least thinking about how to make faster. He was known as the guy who could fix just about anything with a little ingenuity, a few tools, and maybe even some duct tape.
But if you asked him what his greatest accomplishment was, he wouldn’t say the machines he fixed or the races he followed. He’d point you straight to his grandkids. They were his pride and joy. You could always find him at any field, or court cheering them on , being their number one fan.
He was known just as much for his big heart as he was for his quick wit. He had a joke ready for just about any situation—sometimes perfectly timed, sometimes not—but always guaranteed to make you smile. His laughter was contagious, and being around him meant you were never far from a good story or a playful jab.
More than anything, he was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. If someone needed help, he showed up—no questions asked, no recognition needed nothing would stop him for trying to get you want you wanted or needed. He would always say ,”they can’t take your birthday!”
He made people feel welcome, valued, and cared for in a way that left a lasting impression. Whether through a joke, a helping hand, or simply his presence, he had a way of making life a little lighter for everyone around him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
A funeral service will be held on Friday April24, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Mark McVey officiating.
