Ronald "Keith" Howard, age 73 of Fairborn, passed away suddenly on June 22, 2025.

Born on March 16, 1952, in Dayton, the son of the late John Howard and Kathleen "Kitty" (Spencer) Howard, Keith lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a love for his family and community even from a young age working alongside his father, uncles, and siblings in the family business, Howard's Furniture.

A Vietnam era Veteran, after serving his country with honor in the US Navy aboard the USS Mount Whitney during the Arab-Israeli conflict, Keith was employed in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB as a program manager followed by similar work in the private sector as a contractor, retiring after almost 40 years of combined federal service. His contributions were invaluable, and his work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on those he worked alongside.

Outside of his professional achievements, Keith had a passion for life. As a classic car enthusiast, Keith took great pride in his vehicles admiring the history, craftsmanship, and family memories that they represented. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed trips on the water with friends and family with a rod in his hand, enjoying the tranquility that nature provided. Music was another significant part of his life; he loved playing the guitar and had been a member of several local bands in his younger years, sharing his joy of music with friends and family. His enthusiasm extended to sports too, as he was a devoted baseball fan, always cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and the Dayton Dragons. Without a doubt, however, Keith's favorite activity above all else was cheering on his granddaughter just as he had his children, at all of her sporting, band, and honors events.

Keith touched the lives of many through his warm spirit and kind heart. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Eileen and Ralph "Cappy" Capstick; and friend, Mike Crass.

Survivors include two children, Shannon Howard and Eric Howard; granddaughter, Callie Howard; daughter-in-law, Tracey Hoffman; four siblings, John, Kenneth, Byron, and Josephine; his fiancé, Beth Allen and her family; the mother of his children, Beverly Capstick; best friend, Roy Arrington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday June 28, 2025, from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, followed by a service and time for remembrances at 4:00 PM officiated by his niece, Pastor Chris Lutz. Additionally, on Wednesday July 2, 2025, friends and family are encouraged to participate in a funeral procession leaving the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. to take Keith to his place of rest at Dayton National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. In the spirit of Keith, all are welcome and anyone with a classic vehicle please drive it if you can.

Keith Howard will be remembered not only for his service to his country and his community but also for the joy he brought to his family and friends through his passions and interests. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
