Sokhom Prak, age 78, of Fairborn, OH, passed away, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Soin Medical Center. She was born January 1, 1947, in Cambodia.
She was a remarkable individual whose life story is both a testament to resilience and a reflection of the indomitable human spirit.
Sokhom endured unimaginable hardships, having survived the harrowing era of the Khmer Rouge. Throughout her life, she faced profound personal losses, including the tragic passing of her first husband and four children. One of Sokhom’s proudest accomplishments was her work as a midwife in Cambodia. This role brought her immense satisfaction, allowing her to bring life into the world while serving her community. She took great pride in her ability to care for mothers and newborns, which embodied her nurturing spirit.
Family was at the heart of Sokhom's life. She was deeply family-oriented, found joy in cooking, and cherished moments spent with her children and grandchildren. As a young mother, she instilled values of love, resilience, and hard work in her children, ensuring they were equipped to navigate the world. Shortly after, Sokhom separated from her second husband, which lead to the rearing of her children, as a single mother, in a new country, while never allowing her family to go without or complaining to anyone.
