Sophie Hildegard Young

Sophie H. Young, age 81, of Fairborn, OH, passed away on May 5, 2025. Sophie was born March 26, 1944 in Gernsheim, in the state of Hesse, Germany to the late Karl Schäfer and Klara Schäfer.

Sophie was a vivacious and caring person. Immigrating to the United States as a young woman, she was devoted to her church and chosen country. She enjoyed reading, organizing shopping outings with her friends, and possessed an eye for quality in the unlikeliest of places.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Karl Heinz Schäfer, sister Erna Posilovic, and son John Young Jr. She is survived by members of her extended family in her hometown in Germany.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church, 954 N. Maple Ave., Fairborn, OH. Burial at Fairfield Cemetery, 720 Clover St., Fairborn. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn, OH.
