Susan Marie Masten

Susan Marie Masten, age 71 of Fairborn, Ohio passed away on August 8, 2025.

She was born on November 8, 1953, at Wright-Patterson AFB, the daughter of the late Donald and Marie (Booth) Masten. Susan graduated from Fairborn Baker High School.

Susan was a dedicated 60-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her eligibility for the Auxiliary came from her late father, Donald E. Masten. She began her journey in the American Legion Auxiliary with Dignam-Whitmore Unit 52 in Fairborn and later transferred to General Daniel “Chappie” James Unit 776 in Riverside.

Susan successfully held all elected offices for Junior and Senior memberships at the Unit, District, and Department levels. She served as the Department of Ohio President in 2014-2015 and held many chairmanships, completing numerous projects over the years. One of her favorites was serving as the Department of ALA Chief Representative at the Dayton VA, where she spent many hours working, supporting, and providing items to the veterans’ gift shop.

Susan was employed for 32 years as an office administrator.

She is survived by her brother, Curtis “Jim” Masten of Colorado, a poodle dog named Max, along with extended family and a host of friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday September 27, 2025 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. when a service to honor Susan will be led by the American Legion Auxiliary.
