Terri Lynn Gilbert, aged 68, of Covington, KY, (formerly, Fairborn, OH) passed away, in the comfort of home, Thursday, November 27, 2025. She was born on December 26, 1956, in Xenia, OH, the daughter of the late Jack and Janice (Patrick) Lykins.
Terri began her professional career as a healthcare compliance coordinator with Wright State University, then the University of Cincinnati, bringing her expertise and compassionate care to various healthcare settings. She later took on the role of a traveling medical consultant, showcasing her commitment to upholding the highest standards in healthcare practices. Her professional journey continued as she transitioned to Ohio Health and ultimately concluded her career at the University of Cincinnati, where her contributions were recognized and appreciated by colleagues and staff alike.
Terri's academic pursuit led her to earn an associate of science degree from Sinclair Community College, laying the groundwork for her fruitful career in healthcare. Her professional life was underscored by a great sense of humor and a profound love for her family.
A proud breast cancer survivor, Terri's tenacity and strength shone brightly throughout her life. On Mother’s Day in 2017, a particularly poignant moment came when her son baptized her, marking a significant milestone in her faith journey. This memorable occasion was celebrated and cherished by her family, who took immense pride in her spiritual growth.
Terri found joy in many aspects of her life. She adored her two shih tzu dogs, Pebbles and Bam Bam, as well as her black lab, Spook. Living at Indian Lake in Ohio with her husband brought her great happiness, allowing her to embrace the beauty of nature and the leisure activities that came with lakeside living.
An avid sports fan, Terri passionately supported the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State University football team, and the Cincinnati Bearcats, engaging in spirited conversations and cheer during game days.
Terri Lynn Gilbert leaves behind a legacy of humor, love, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Terri is preceded in death by a grandson, Isaiah David Leigh; and sister, Karen Longstreth. She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Keith L. Gilbert; son, Adam (Michelle) Leigh; five beautiful granddaughters, Reagan, Esther, Lily, Selah, Riah; sisters & brothers-in-law, Patty (Don) Duffey, Mike Gilbert, Johnnie Gilbert, Jane (Nick) Mote; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, OH, 45324. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until the time of service, Minister Adam Leigh officiating. Burial to follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, OH.
