The Thompson’s--Together in Life and in Passing

David passed away, just nine days after the death of his beloved wife, Kathleen. Their bond, forged over 26 years of marriage, remained unbroken to the very end.

Kathleen Sue “Kathy” Thompson, age 75 of Xenia, OH, passed away, Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born June 7, 1950, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of the late Harlan D. and Betty L. (Sayre) Shepherd.

A beloved figure to her family and friends, Kathleen was known for her caring nature and deep love for those around her.

During her professional life, she initially worked for Dr. Keith H. Peh, M.D., where she made lasting contributions to the care of his patients for many years. She later continued her commitment to service at Home Run Incorporated.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Kathleen found joy in her passions. A lifelong fan of Elvis, she cherished the music that brought her happiness, and her enthusiasm extended to her loyalty as a Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. These pastimes reflected the enjoyment she derived from life’s simpler pleasures.

Among her most admirable qualities was Kathleen’s selflessness, particularly evident during the years she dedicated herself to caring for her husband after his injury. This aspect of her character truly embodied her devotion, as she consistently placed the needs of her loved ones above her own.

While Kathleen preferred to maintain her privacy, those who knew her understood the depth of her heart. Her legacy will not only be remembered through her professional contributions but also through the enduring love she shared with her family.

Kathleen Sue Thompson leaves a lasting impact on all who had the honor to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by a brother, Charles P. (Charlotte; Patricia) Shepherd; father-in-law, Ronald Thompson; nephew, Paul D. Avery, Jr.; and beloved dog, Nicky. Kathleen is survived by a devoted husband, David Ross Thompson, who passed nine days following her death; mother-in-law, Shirley Thompson; brother, Donald E. (Teri) Shepherd); brothers-in-law, Ronald Thompson and Donald Thompson; sister-in-law, Amy (Joel) Askey; nieces and nephews, Donielle Avery, Benjamin Shepherd, Rachel Shepherd, Samuel Askey, Sarah Askey and Jonathan Askey; great nieces, Talyne (Bodey) Hupp, Kierstyn (Caleb) Keys and Mackenzie Ray; great-great niece and nephews, Lapis Hupp, Enzo Hupp and Dawson Keys; and cousins, extended family and dear friends.
