USAF TSgt. (Ret.) Edwin R. Sanborn, Sr.

USAF TSgt. (Ret.) Edwin R. Sanborn, age 89 of Medway, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday November 25, 2025. He was born April 11, 1936 in Xenia, the son of the late Clarence and Mabel (Harlow) Sanborn.

Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force in weapons control, retiring at the rank of Technical Sergeant; and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB in calibrations, retiring after over 50 years of combined federal service. He was a proud veteran, a skilled mechanic, and a man who loved NASCAR and working on his military vehicles. He always had a story to tell from his years of travel, service, and hard work.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise in 2015; and two brothers, Rick and Ron Sanborn. Survivors include a brother, Don Sanborn; sister, Linda Peyton; children, John (Kathy), Eddie (Sandy), Charlene (Joe); grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Clevinger, Justin (Kaylee) Clevinger, Josh (Clara) Sanborn; great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Jaxson, Emma, and Jameson Clevinger.

Edwin’s legacy lives on in the generations who follow him. His strength, service, and love will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday December 11, 2025 at 11:30 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Father Charles Lang officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery.
