Bertha A. Slater, age 88 of Fairborn passed away May 10, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born June 13, 1934 in Cranesville, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ray and Lottie (Smith) Sypolt. She served her country in the U.S. Air Force. Bertha attended Fairborn Enterprise Baptist Church; and enjoyed bowling, cards, cross stitching and especially spending time with family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; son, Michael; daughter, Marjorie; siblings, Gladys, Junior, Ernest, and Robert “Dale”. Bertha is survived by daughter, Rita Cobb, son, Martyn Slater; grandchildren, Todd Cobb, Shawn (Sarah) Cobb, Erin (Jeff) Williams, Jennifer Plappert, Andrew Slater, 13 great-grandchildren; friend, Howard “Tommy” Pruitt; siblings, Ann Phillips, Lawrence Sypolt, George (Nancy) Sypolt. A memorial service will be held on Monday May 22, 2023 at 12 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Mark Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
