Brenda "Joy" Smith

Brenda “Joy” Smith, age 60, of Fairborn, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 27, 2023, surrounded by her family at Soin Medical Center. Joy was born March 9, 1963, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of Donald W. Compton and Snodia “Susie” (Lockhart) Compton.

Joy was known for her heart of gold, showing unconditional love to everyone who crossed her path. She had a keen strength for seeing potential in others, at times when they did not see it in themselves. Joy truly invested her time and energy in those she loved, bringing a gentle strength and lasting peace to all who needed it. Joy spent years as a manager at Giovanni’s in Fairborn. She enjoyed drawing, painting, and dancing. She also loved the rain, mountains, trees, listening to music and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Donald W. Compton; sister, Carolyn S. Compton; as well as many uncles, aunts, extended family, and friends. She is survived by her husband, Mark Smith; mother, Susie Compton; brother, Richard (Tina) Compton; three children, Raegan (Katerina); Christy; Sarah; eight grandchildren, Brooklyn; Cole; Kalob; Cameron; Asher; Audrey; Alyssa; and Cambria; and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00P.M., Wednesday, May 3, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E.
