Calvin Lambert Obituary

    Calvin F. Lambert of Enon, Ohio, passed away at home on October 21, 2021 at the age of 78.  He was born in Grant City, Missouri, the son of the late Owen and Lennis Lambert.  He retired from the U.S. Post Office after 36 years beginning as a mail carrier and retiring as a supervisor.  He also served proudly in the U.S. Air Force where he had 8 years active duty and later joined the Air Force Reserve and retired after 26 years of service.  Calvin is a member of the Enon United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #421, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and VFW Post #8437.  Calvin was also an active member of the Greenon Boosters where he collected football tickets for 10 years.  He enjoyed coaching his son’s soccer team and his daughter’s softball team for several years.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  A proud and patriotic man who believed in family, American values, and an honest day’s work.

    His favorite vacations were taking cruises with family and friends and seeing all the beautiful islands.  After retirement, him and his wife became snowbirds in Naples, Florida.  They bought a home in Naples and had so many memorable times with great friends.  

    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley F. Lambert, daughter Rhonda (Donnie) Meeker, son Thomas (Jody) Lambert, 7 grandchildren - Nathan Lambert, Owen Lambert, Noah Lambert, Tara (Eric) Webber, Evan McGhee, Anthony Meeker, and Bailee Meeker; two brothers, Keith (Mary Kay) Lambert, and Gary Lambert; two sisters, Mary Lou (Galen) Cook, Nona Bain, sister-in-law Martha Lambert, brother-in-law/sister-in-law Joe and Jan Wilson and many cousins, nieces, nephews and life-long friends.  He was preceded in death by brother Kenneth Lambert, sister Rowena Miller and brother-in-law’s Dick Bain and Harold Miller.

    Visitation will be at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn, Ohio, on Friday, October 29, from 6:00-8:00 pm.  A Masonic Service will be held at 7:45 pm.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 30, at Enon United Methodist Church, 85 Broadway Rd, Enon, Ohio at 10:00 am.  A military burial will follow in Byron Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to The Parkinson Foundation or Hospice of Dayton.
