Obituary

David L. Syling, age 82 of Beavercreek, formerly of Trinity, Texas, passed away Tuesday May 9, 2023 at the Hospice of Dayton.  He was born February 25, 1941 in Greenville, PA, the son of the late James Earl and Olive Martha Elenor (Blair) Syling.

David served his country in the US Army and followed with employment as a performance consultant with Kellogg, Brown, & Root, Inc., and project director at Avco Corporation.  He had served as cubmaster with the Boy Scouts in Huber Heights as well as a soccer coach for the Gemini Optical team.  An avid car buff, David enjoyed maintaining and fixing his vehicles, and he also was a talented woodworker.  He also could be sarcastic at times and quick witted, and he loved his dogs as much as his kids.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in May 2022; and three siblings, Jim, Mariam, and Dutch.  Survivors include three children, Kathy (Tim) Kauffman of Springfield, Doug Syling of Beavercreek, Julie (Steve) Lucas of Franklin; grandchildren, Shelby and Brady; as well as other extended family, and friends.

A memorial will be held at a later date by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton -or- Friends of Faye, a foster and rescue organization for dogs at www.friendsoffaye.com.

Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn.
