Foster B. Akers, Sr., age 88 of Dayton went home to be with the Lord Saturday November 11, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 20, 1935 in Pike Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Clarence and Rhodina (Hamilton) Akers. He was retired from Chrysler as an assembly worker after 30 years of service. He was an avid coon hunter, spending many years outdoors doing what he loved. Foster was very active in church work, praying for the sick, visiting shut-in, and lifting up church members in prayer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Akers; brother, Kermit Akers; sister, Iva Howell; sons-in-law, Johnny Bryant, John Horn. Foster is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirlene; five children, Loretta (Butch) Wyatt, Justine Bryant, Mabeline Horn, Foster Jr. (Angela) Akers, Mark (Pam) Akers; many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Inas Tackett, and Anna Lou Hamilton. A visitation will be held on Wednesday November 15, 2023 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at House of Prayer, 1220 Wallaby Dr., Beavercreek, where a service will be held at 6:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Thursday November 16 at 12:00 noon at the church; Elders Bill Smith, Danny Cardi and Daniel Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
