Joan Reed

Phyllis "Joan" Reed, age 87, of Fairborn, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023. She was born August 28, 1935 in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Oshel Slone and Ina (McGuire) Slone.
Joan was an avid UK fan and enjoyed countless slumber parties with her cousins and sisters. In addition, she adored southern gospel hymns and her many cats. Joan was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sister, Norma Blair; and brother, Willie "Bill" Slone. She is survived by her four children, Michael (Karen) Reed; Lori (Felix) Castro; Glenn (Rosemarie) Reed ; Gregory (Tammie) Reed; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister, Mabel Sue Hess; brother, Jackie C Slone; as well as numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
A Visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2023, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. Where a graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at the Dayton-National Cemetery, 4400 W. Third St, Dayton, 45428, Pastor Greg Trout officiating. The family requests that those in attendance wear Kentucky Blue, Go Wildcats! In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
