Johnnie Chastain

Johnnie Chastain, age 97 of Medway, passed away Monday August 1, 2022 at the Soin Medical Center.  She was born June 18, 1925 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late John and Birchie (Petty) Wilmoth. 

Johnnie was employed with Delco Products, retiring after 30 years of service and she was a longtime member of the New Carlisle Church of Christ.  She enjoyed gardening and canning; and in more recent years when mobility became more difficult, she appreciated her home and spending time with family and friends that would visit. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Melvin in April of this year; a sister and brother-in-law, Ida and Jack Barker; two brothers, Harold Wilmoth and Louis Wilmoth; as well as several half-sisters and a half-brother. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Chastain; a sister, Margaret Wilmoth; a sister-in-law, Wanda Wilmoth; three nieces, Janice Bryant, Kathy (Gary) Goforth, Denise (Tom) Woody; a nephew, Gary (Jayne) Chastain; as well as a cousin, Marilyn (Jay) Beverly; and other extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 6, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Minister Jeremy Miller officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the Medway Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Church of Christ.
