Kelly A. "Artie" Privett Obituary

Kelly A. “Artie” Privett, age 70 of Lawrenceburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday September 11, 2020 at his residence.  He was born May 9, 1950 in McCreary Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Oliver and Ella (Rose) Privett.

Artie was a retiree of Carr Tool Company in Fairfield, where he had been a loyal employee for over 30 years.  He also served as a minister for a number of years; first with Newell Church of God in Kentucky and then with the Lawrenceburg First Church of God.

An avid outdoorsman, if he wasn’t at work or church he could be found in a deer stand, kicking briars for rabbits, calling turkeys, walking through the woods looking for squirrels, running through the woods when the hounds were baying, setting lines for snapping turtles, gigging frogs, or wetting a fishing line.  He also had one of the largest vegetable gardens in the area and canned much of his produce so he could enjoy the fruits of his labor through the winter months and share with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Anderson; and a brother, James Privett.  Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Garnette; three children, Shawna (David) Colen, Jason (Liz) Privett, Linda (William) Cutter, all of Rising Sun; eight grandchildren, Katelyn, Hunter, Timmy, Lisa, Kara Jo, Maryella, Jacob, William; two great granddaughters, Crymsenne, Chandler; siblings, Sue Privett, Linda Privett, Leonard Privett, Glenna (Dwight) Davis; brother-in-law, Marty Anderson, all of Kentucky; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 15, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Church of God, 1000 Fairview St., Lawrenceburg, Don Pierce and John Griffin officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.  Burial will follow at the St. John’s (Bellaire) Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, Lawrenceburg.  Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home.
