Shelli R. Drake-Weller, age 54 of Fairborn went home to Christ The Lord Saturday November 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 19, 1969 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Ronald and Margaret (Miller) Drake. Shelli enjoyed singing, long country drives, hiking, arts and crafts, and riding bikes. She could be found going to antique shops and thrift stores looking for a bargain. Church as an important part of her life, attending First Baptist Church of Kettering, she taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, developed activities and programs for special needs children, assisted with all the church activities, and was a member of the churches Tipp City community group bible study. Shelli worked for 24 years with adults with disabilities; earned the Aaron Richie Award from the Montgomery Board DDS for outstanding service along with the URS Howard Hilty Award. Shelli was Quakers the Duck for United Rehabilitation Services (URS) annual Duck Regatta in Dayton for several years and was the first to be chosen to be Duck of The Year.
Shelli is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret "Marge" Drake; and sister, Robin Lynn Drake. Shelli is survived by her loving husband, Steven; father, Ronald Drake ("Voice of The Wee Hawks); three brothers, Ronald Drake Jr. (Debbie), Scott Drake Sr. (Wee Hawk Announcer), and William Drake Sr. (Brandi); two sisters, Lisa McClure (Gary), Yvonne Beckman (Jim), many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday November 20th, 2023 from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Kettering, 3939 Swigart Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45440, where a funeral will be held o n Tuesday November 21, 2023 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor David Faile & Pastor Bobby Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to We Care Arts, 3035 Wilmington Pike, Kettering, OH 45429.
