Thayer Vincent Thompson, age 81, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020. She was born at Scofield Barracks in the territory of Hawaii on December 17, 1938, the daughter of the late Brig General Clinton D. (Casey) Vincent and Margaret (Peggy) Hennessey Vincent. While attending school, she went to 12 schools in 13 years, and graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1956. After graduating, Thayer attended Texas Woman’s University for one year and then transferred to the University of Denver. Thayer met and married Col. Glen M. Thompson in 1958 and held numerous positions in the Officer’s Wives’ Club including president, treasurer, and ways and means. She was offered a job with The UD band director, Clair Miller at the University of Dayton and went back to school while working there. After obtaining more in her degree she transferred to Wesleyan University in Macon, Georgia and received her Bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1984 and even continued for her master’s degree after.  She opened a small accounting and tax business as an IRS enrolled agent as she loved doing taxes and accounting. In her free time, she loved to spend time with her children, play bingo, swim (synchronized swimming), play the piano as she was musically inclined and almost became a concert pianist, reading, and traveling in which she took 32 trips all around the world. Thayer is survived by her children, Glen (Dorene) Thompson Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida, David (Michelle) Thompson of Springboro, Ohio, and Thayer-Ann Thompson of Fairborn, Ohio; grandchildren, Kari Thompson, Cathy Thompson Stumpf, Lillian Matthews, Gavyn Matthews, and Vincent Matthews; and great-grandchildren, Ben Stumpf and Zach Stumpf.
