David D. Rudd, age 79 of Fairborn, passed away Sunday April 16, 2023 at the Preserves of Beavercreek. He was born June 1, 1943 in Fawngrove, PA, the son of the late Doke and Alice (Loan) Rudd.
David served his country in the US Air Force, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1981; and followed with employment in civil service at NASIC at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring in 2013 after a combined 52 plus years of federal service.
He attended St. Brigid Catholic Church and was a family man who was proud of his West Virginia heritage. His hobbies included participating with his family on the dog show circuit with their Bearded Collies; and he was an avid car buff, still owning his beloved 1984 Mazda RX-7, and he and his wife both drove Mini Coopers as their daily drivers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Rudd, Lacey Rudd; and a sister, Ruth Rudd. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Jean; daughter, Katherine Rudd Beard (Tim); son, Jim Rudd (Deb); grandson, Luke Rudd; brother, Dale Rudd; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many good friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday April 20, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 21, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Brigid Catholic Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia, Father John Madanu Celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at the St. Brigid Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Valley Hospice.
